Rockefeller Foundation (New York): Appointed Judith Rodin, president emerita of the U. of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), to be president, effective March 2005. She will succeed Gordon Conway, who is retiring at the end of this year.
Scherman Foundation (New York): Announced the death of David F. Freeman, former executive director. He also served as president of the Council on Foundations (Washington) from 1968 to 1978. Mr. Freeman died July 4 in St. Andrews, Canada, at age 86.
