Howard Hughes Medical Institute (Chevy Chase, Md.): Announced the resignation of Thomas R. Cech, president, effective in the spring of 2009. Mr. Cech, who concurrently serves as a researcher in chemistry and biochemistry at the U. of Colorado at Boulder, will continue in that position.
International Fund for Animal Welfare (Washington): Appointed Tereza Byrne, bureau chief for marketing and development at Adventist Development and Relief Agency International (Silver Spring, Md.), to be vice president of development and external affairs.
