American Philosophical Society (Philadelphia): Appointed Mary Patterson McPherson, vice president and program officer for the liberal-arts-colleges program at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (New York), to be executive officer. She succeeds Mary Maples Dunn and Richard S. Dunn, co-executive officers, who are retiring.
Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (Annapolis, Md.): Appointed John M. Huber, executive director of the American Urological Association Foundation (Linthicum, Md.), to be executive director.
Christian Children’s Fund (Richmond, Va.): Appointed Isam Ghanim, vice president for program resources and learning at CARE (Atlanta), to be vice president for Africa.
Kimbell Art Museum (Fort Worth): Announced the resignation of Timothy Potts, director, effective September 1. He will serve as a consultant for the museum.
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (New York): Appointed Larisa Ortiz, a senior project manager at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, to be program director for the commercial-markets advisory service.
Lutheran World Relief (Baltimore): Appointed the Rev. John Arthur Nunes, assistant professor of theology at Concordia U. (River Forest, Ill.) and a pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church (Chicago), to be president.
Morgan Library & Museum (New York): Appointed William M. Griswold, director and president of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, to be director, effective March 4, 2008. He succeeds Charles E. Pierce Jr., who is retiring.
National Center for Family Philanthropy (Washington): Appointed Susan Crites Price, managing director of the family-foundation services department at the Council on Foundations (Washington), to be vice president.
Nature Conservancy (Arlington, Va.): Appointed Rebecca L. Patton, managing director of the conservancy’s Pacific North America Region, to be chief conservation-strategies officer.
Nature Conservancy in Arizona (Phoenix): Appointed Tom Collazo, director of conservation, to be associate state director for conservation programs, and Susan Waschler, chief advancement officer for the Global Institute of Sustainability at Arizona State U. (Tempe), to be deputy state director of philanthropy, marketing, and operations.
PATH (Seattle): Appointed Christian Loucq, director of strategy and operations for the organization’s Malaria Vaccine Initiative, to be director of the Malaria Vaccine Initiative.
Pew Charitable Trusts (Philadelphia): Appointed Monica Medina, acting director of the U.S. office of the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the organization’s deputy director of the U.S. office, based in Washington, to be director of the Pew Whale Conservation Project, based in Washington.
Phillips Collection (Washington): Announced the retirement of Jay Gates, director, effective in 2008.
Praxis Housing Initiatives (New York): Appointed John Foran, chief financial officer, to be chief executive officer. He succeeds Charlie King, who has resigned to work for civil-rights causes. This organization offers transitional housing for homeless people.
Public Agenda (New York): Appointed Andrew Yarrow, a visiting U.S. history professor at American U. (Washington), to be vice president and director of the Washington office. Public Agenda conducts public-policy research and promotes civic engagement.
Quinnipiac U. (Hamden, Conn.): Appointed John DeMezzo, founder and principal/managing director of K&J Futures (Boonton, N.J.), to be regional development officer for New York and New Jersey, and Kristen Mengold, director of alumni relations and development for the Carroll School of Management at Boston College (Chestnut Hill, Mass.), to be development director for the School of Law.
Rutgers U. School of Business at Camden (N.J.): Appointed Cynthia Muir Quinton, vice president of development and board relations at the Haddonfield Symphony (N.J.), to be assistant dean for development.
Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte (N.C.): Appointed Linda R. Pellerin, director of public relations at the Better Business Bureau of Southern Piedmont (Charlotte), to be executive director. She succeeds Brigid Norton, who has retired. Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte offers volunteering opportunities and classes for older adults.
U. of Rochester (N.Y.): Appointed Darnell Hines Jr., director of donor relations and stewardship for the Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State U. (Columbus), to be director of stewardship.

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation (New York): Appointed Paul L. Joskow, a professor of economics and management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge) and director of the institute’s Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research, to be president, effective January 1, 2008. He will succeed Ralph E. Gomory, who will become director of special programs.
BetterWorld Together Foundation (Temecula, Calif.): Appointed Paul Thompson, principal and senior partner of Global Community Solutions (Carlsbad, Calif.), to be executive director.
