Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (Seattle): Appointed Jaime Garcia, vice president of community services at the United Way of King County (Seattle), to be senior program officer for the Pacific Northwest grant program.
Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation (Kansas City, Mo.): Appointed Bridget Hardgree, coordinator, to be program associate for the Youth Advisory Board; Brian Mann, research associate, to be senior research associate for the youth-development division; and Gwen Richtermeyer, senior research associate, to be manager of research and evaluation.
Rockefeller Foundation (New York): Announced the resignation of Lincoln C. Chen, executive vice president for strategy, effective at the end of this year. Mr. Chen will begin a new initiative on philanthropic partnerships for global equity, to which the foundation will contribute. The foundation also appointed Susan Sechler, director of the global-inclusion program, to be senior adviser for biotechnology policy, and Julia I. Lopez, director of the working-communities program, to be vice president for program administration and interim director for working communities and global inclusion. Ms. Lopez will be based in the San Francisco office starting January 2002.
