(New York), to be executive vice president and chief financial officer; and Mitch Zeller, director of the office of tobacco programs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, to be executive vice president. The foundation also announced the resignation of Charles A. Wolfe, chief operating officer. ALF was created using funds from a legal settlement between several tobacco companies and 46 state attorneys general, and supports programs and research to prevent tobacco use.

William E. Simon Foundation (Morristown, N.J.): William E. Simon, chairman and former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents Nixon and Ford, died June 3 in Santa Barbara, Calif., at the age of 72. He was also president of the John M. Olin Foundation, in New York.
The Trust for Jewish Philanthropy (New York): Appointed Michael Abidor, director of the general assembly of United Jewish Communities (New York), also to be director of project development, and Lawrence A.
