Jane Garcia, chief executive officer of La Clinica de La Raza, will lead the California Endowment’s Board of Directors.
The grant maker, whose $3.5 billion in assets places it among the nation’s largest foundations, has marshalled its efforts this decade toward reducing health inequities throughout the state, with a special focus on minority, immigrant, and low-income residents. The organization led by Ms. Garcia, who has served on the endowment’s board since 2010, is a community health-care provider that offers culturally appropriate care to the diverse communities in the state’s East Bay counties. The nonprofit operates on a budget of more than $95 million and has 32 sites, including eight school-based health centers.
Ms. Garcia is also chairwoman of the Alameda Alliance for Health and past president of the California Primary Care Association’s Board of Directors.
