Poll Hints Obama Foundation Favors U. of Chicago Library Bid

February 26, 2015 | Read Time: 1 minute

The Barack Obama Foundation commissioned a survey of residents of Chicago’s South Side on using area parkland for the Obama presidential library, offering a clue that the University of Chicago is the frontrunner among four bids to host the future facility, according to the Associated Press.

Only about a quarter of those polled opposed the university’s proposal to build the library on South Side park property, a plan that has generated some controversy, the Chicago Sun-Times reports, citing a source close to the foundation. No polling was done regarding the library plans promulgated by the University of Illinois at Chicago, Columbia University in New York, or the University of Hawaii, the newspaper says.
