Press Forward Taps First Director to Guide $500 Million in Local-News Grant Making

Press Forward

Dale Anglin, vice president for proactive grantmaking at the Cleveland Foundation, will be the first director of this $500 million effort to bolster local newsrooms. She will begin her new role on March 11.

Nontraditional Employment for Women

Leah Rambo, deputy director of the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau, will be the next president of this nonprofit group that advocates for job opportunities for women in the skilled trades, including the construction, utility, and maintenance industries.

She will be the organization’s first Black woman leader.

Schmidt Sciences

Stuart Feldman has been tapped as president of this organization that has spun off from Schmidt Futures to back unconventional research in science, artificial intelligence, and technology. It is one of the grantmaking entities of Wendy and Eric Schmidt, Google’s former CEO and executive chairman.

Feldman is a computer scientist who has served as chief scientist at Schmidt Futures since 2018.

More New CEOs

Andrew Ammerman, founder and CEO of CAA Consulting, has been named president and CEO of the Marine Corps University Foundation. He succeeds Richard Mills, who has been its leader since 2015.

Cheryl Harrelson has been appointed vice president for university advancement at Georgia State University and president of the Georgia State University Foundation. Most recently she was associate vice chancellor for alumni, annual giving, and pipeline development at the University of California at San Diego.

Other Notable Appointments

Gary Grant, senior vice president for advancement at the Florida Institute of Technology, will now serve as senior vice president of advancement and external affairs at Iona University.

David Lively, interim vice president for alumni relations and development at Northwestern University since October, will continue in the role permanently. He has worked at the university since 2012 and was most recently senior associate vice president for alumni relations and development. Lively succeeds Bob McQuinn, who has retired.

Karely Ordaz Salto has joined the San Francisco Foundation as director of its department of the CEO, where she will support Fred Blackwell. Most recently she was chief of staff at the Unity Council in Oakland and Hamilton Families in San Francisco.

Gary Pforzheimer, president of the planned-giving company PG Calc, will now serve as president of planned giving at Foundation Source, which has acquired PG Calc.

Frank Woodward has been promoted from associate vice president for university advancement to vice president for university advancement at Lincoln Memorial University. He has worked at the museum in Tennessee since 2008.

Krista Zodet has stepped down as president and CEO of the HealthWell Foundation. She has worked there for 18 years.
