November 3, 2006
A well-known Christian leader has stepped down amidst allegations that he had a three-year relationship with a male prostitute, reports The New York Times.
The Rev. Ted Haggard, president of the National Association of Evangelicals and a vocal opponent of same-sex marriage, has denied the allegations, saying he has been faithful to his wife and never met his accuser.
The National Association of Evangelicals has 30-million members and represents Christians from 60 denominations.
