PUBLIC-RADIO LAWSUIT
December 29, 2005
Patrons of a National Public Radio affiliate in Detroit have sued the station, saying that they were hoodwinked into donating to WDET-FM during a pledge drive in the fall while its employees secretly plotted changes to its programs, The Chicago Tribune reports. Kevin Ernst, the lawyer representing the group of angered listeners, has said the station should bring back local music programs cancelled this month or return donations made during the recent campaign. Louis Lessem, the general counsel at Wayne State University, which owns WDET-FM, said the suit was baseless.
