* Carnegie Corporation of New York: $200,000 to the Center for Independent Media, for a public-television documentary that retells the story of an investigation into race relations in the United States

* John S. and James L. Knight Foundation: $200,000 to the Huffington Post Investigative Fund, for its investigative-reporting efforts

* William Randolph Hearst Foundation: $100,000 to the National Aviary, for science-education programs for children and youths

* Richard & Rhoda Goldman Fund: $35,000 to GreenBlue, to develop a Web site of environmentally friendly chemicals suitable for use in cleaning solutions
