Red Cross Details Its Disaster Plan

April 12, 2006

The American Red Cross, which received about 60 percent of the $3-billion in post-Katrina disaster donations and has been criticized for its response, said this week that it would work with and financially support other charities following future calamities, reports The New York Times.

The charity also plans to expand its warehouse space and increase supplies and communication equipment. It expects to spend about $80-million improving its operations ahead of the 2006 hurricane season, which begins July 1.
