Red Cross Investigates Wrongdoing
March 24, 2006
The American Red Cross is investigating whether some of its volunteers stole relief supplies intended for victims of Hurricane Katrina, The New York Times reports.
The move comes after some volunteers told the charity they had seen improprieties and that they were concerned that convicted felons were among the Red Cross’s volunteer corps. Volunteers say millions of dollars worth of supplies ended up in the wrong hands.
Red Cross officials say they are investigating what happened and will take action against wrongdoers if they turn up.
