Red Cross Requests $81-Million to Help Lebanon
August 1, 2006
The International Committee of the Red Cross has asked for $81-million for emergency humanitarian relief in Lebanon, to expand its staff and support food, health, and clean-water programs for 655,000 people, reports the Associated Press.
Up to a fifth of the Lebanese population–800,000 people–has been displaced by the conflict between Israel and the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, and security issues along borders are making it difficult for aid convoys to reach those in need, the wire service reports.
