Red Cross Worker Killed in Darfur
August 31, 2006
A Sudanese driver working for the International Committee of the Red Cross was killed after being abducted two weeks ago in Darfur, reports The Associated Press.
A Red Cross team distributing food was attacked by armed men August 16. The men forced the aid worker to drive them away in one of the Red Cross’s vehicles.
In July, eight aid workers were killed in Sudan, the most killed in one month since the conflict began in 2003 between the government and rebel groups.
