Two reports on evaluating non-profit programs are now available on line.
“Program Evaluation Practice in the Nonprofit Sector” focuses on the extent to which staff members, volunteers, and clients are involved in evaluation activities and if the level of their involvement affects whether the results are used and evaluation efforts continue.
The 1998 report was written by InnoNet, a non-profit consulting organization in Washington, and financed by the Aspen Institute, the Nonprofit Sector Research Fund, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The Canadian Centre for Philanthropy’s recent report, “A Review of Evaluation Resources for Nonprofit Organizations,” discusses different approaches to evaluating non-profit programs and analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of evaluation manuals designed for non-profit organizations.
The report was financed by the National Crime Prevention Centre, a program of Canada’s Department of Justice.
The InnoNet report is available at http://www.inetwork.org/tools/a-toc.html, and the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy’s report is available at http://www.ccp.ca/information/documents/gd44.htm.
