Requests for Gifts Rankle Artists

New York artists are complaining that an increasing number of nonprofit groups are asking them to donate their artwork to charitable auctions, reports The New York Times.

While many artists are happy to help, they point out that they only receive a tax deduction for the cost of the materials used to make their donated works and rarely receive public recognition for their philanthropy.
