RESIGNATION AT GETTY TRUST
February 10, 2006
Dogged by allegations of lavish spending, Barry Munitz has resigned as president of the J. Paul Getty Trust, in Los Angeles, reports the Los Angeles Times. In a statement announcing the decision, the Getty said that Mr. Munitz admits no wrongdoing but has agreed to give up severance pay and repay the trust $250,000 “to resolve any continuing disputes.” Both the state attorney general and a lawyer hired by the Getty board are investigating Mr. Munitz’s and the trust’s operations. Mr. Munitz did not comment in the article.
