‘Reverse Peace Corps’ Trains Nonprofit Leaders From Abroad

The Washington Post writes about the Atlas Service Corps, a D.C.-based organization that brings young nonprofit leaders from around the world to the United States for a year to network and develop new skills to apply in their work back home.

Described in the article as a “reverse Peace Corps,” the Atlas Corps was founded in 2006 with a goal of building a “global network of changemakers.” It annually hosts 75 fellows, drawn from thousands of applicants, who work with U.S. nonprofits. Participating groups help fund the program, along with foundations, the federal government, and corporate donors including Nike and American Express. The Atlas Corps extended its reach last year by forging a formal two-year partnership with the State Department.
