March 20, 2006
The Old Globe Theater, in San Diego, has received a $20-million gift from Donald Shiley, inventor of an artificial heart valve, and his wife, Darlene, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The donation, the largest in the Old Globe’s history, will support a new stage and education center; part of it will also go toward the theater’s endowment.
