Senate Subcommittee Votes to Double Nonprofit Security Funds

June 18, 2015

The Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee voted to increase funding for a nonprofit security grant program in fiscal 2016 from $13 million to $25 million, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reports.

A vote by the full Senate Appropriations Committee is expected on Thursday.

Jewish organizations have praised the increase. William Daroff, director of the Jewish Federations of North America’s Washington office, said the funds “have been critical in protecting our communities” during a time of rising anti-semitism.
