The Florida Institute of Technology will receive $24.1-million worth of software and free training for students from Massachusetts-based PTC, a software firm specializing in programs for manufacturing and engineering, reports Florida Today.
The gift, announced Monday, will support improved course offerings in manufacturing technology. The bulk of the gift provides the university with access to proprietary PTC software used by companies to design products and develop efficient manufacturing and distribution systems.
In addition, a select group of students called PTC Scholars will get free training on using the firm’s products and technology certifications with which to bolster their resumes.
