The Missouri attorney general is accusing a St. Louis charity founder of stealing the organization’s money to pay for his home-mortgage payments and other personal items, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The attorney general’s office also charged that Lou Sengheiser, head of Gateway to a Cure, a charity that raises money to help people with spinal-cord injuries, used the charity’s tax-exempt status to buy vehicles for several people to avoid taxes.
Mr. Sengheiser did not comment in the article, but he has said previously that he has not done anything wrong. No other officials of the charity commented on the allegations.
