American Red Cross Monterey-San Benito Counties (Calif.)

The Central California branch of the national disaster-relief charity has laid off three staff members.

Cleveland Museum of Art

The museum has laid off 14 of its 300 employees and is leaving eight other positions unfilled.

Council on Foundations (Arlington, Va.)

The association of grant makers laid off 14 of its 85 staff members.

Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund (Washington)

The organization, which provided scholarships to needy students, has ceased operations.

Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital (Woodland Hills, Calif.)

The nonprofit group’s long-term care unit, which provides housing for the elderly and other long-term care for retired actors, film-crew members, directors, and other retirees of the movie industry, plans to close its hospital and a housing facility by the end of the year.

OdysseyNH (Hampton, N.H.)

The social services group, which helped youths, families, and women overcome substance abuse and other problems, has closed.

Professional Leaders Project (Los Angeles)

This organization, which groomed young American Jews for leadership roles in business and at charities has ceased operations.

United Way of the Greater Dayton Area (Ohio)

Eleven employees have accepted buyouts, and most of the 11 positions will not be filled.

Women in Need (New York)

The organization, which helps homeless and disadvantaged families, has laid off five administrative staff members.
