Stanford University will name a new campus engineering hub for tech billionaire Kavitark Shriram and his wife, Vidjealatchoumy Shriram, in recognition of a $57-million gift to support the project, the institution announced Wednesday.
Mr. Shriram, an early investor in Google, is a member of Stanford’s board of trustees. The 208,000-square-foot Shriram Center for Bioengineering & Chemical Engineering, the fourth and final building in Stanford’s new Science and Engineering Quad, will house the two engineering departments, now dispersed across several campus buildings.
The Shrirams will also endow a chair in the bioengineering department, raising their total contribution to $61 million.
