Suspected Pro-ISIS Group Hacks Calif. Aid Charity

A Buena Park, Calif., nonprofit’s Web site was hacked this week by a group that replaced the nonprofit’s home page with a message supporting jihadist force Islamic State, the Orange County Register reports. Officials with Giving Children Hope said the cyber attack could be related to the Christian aid group’s donations of food, blankets, and other relief supplies to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Turkey, and Jordan.

Giving Children Hope took down its site Monday morning after the appearance of a black screen with the messages “Hacked by Team System Dz” and “i love isis.” Charity spokeswoman Carly Visbal said the site was back up in a few hours and no personal or donor data were compromised. Team System Dz has attacked hundreds of sites since July and told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in October that it is targeting “the coalition against the Islamic State,” a reference to countries fighting the militant group also known as ISIS or ISIL.
