Teacher Gives $1.3-Million to School

September 12, 2006

A teacher in Michigan has bequeathed $1.3-million to the school district she taught in for 29 years, reports The Flint Journal.

The money, which will be held in a trust by the Davison Educational Foundation, is expected to generate $60,000 in interest annually, enough to finance two years of college for five students every year, said district officials.

The teacher, Edna Diehl, died heirless in July at the age of 88. Former students said she was known for her ability to raise money for school trips.
