The Lemelson-MIT Program and the Urban Land Institute Get New Leaders

Lemelson-MIT Program

Stephanie Couch, executive director of the Institute for STEM Education and director of the Gateways East Bay STEM Network at California State University at East Bay, will join the Lemelson-MIT Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as its executive director on July 11.

Ms. Couch has 16 years of experience in science, technology, engineering, and math education policy, research, and development as well as fundraising. She was previously the interim executive director of the California STEM Learning Network, which she helped to design and launch.

The Lemelson-MIT Program was created in 1994 by the inventor Jerome Lemelson and his wife, Dorothy. It promotes innovation through grant making and events and awards two prizes annually that encourage the work of midcareer and student inventors.

American Farmland Trust

John Piotti, chief executive of Maine Farmland Trust, was named president.

Carnegie Hero Fund Commission

Eric Zahren, a retiring special agent in charge of the U.S. Secret Service Pittsburgh field office, will be executive director.

Center for Inspired Teaching

Jane Dimyan Ehrenfeld, director of teaching and learning at Inspired Teaching and former lawyer in the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education, will be executive director.

Urban Land Institute

Jeanne Myerson, principal at the Belgrave Group, was appointed chief executive for the Americas region.

Other Notable Appointments

Michelle McCarthy, chief operating officer at Round It Up America, was appointed vice president for development at the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

Janet Myers, director of development for the John Felice Rome Center at Loyola University Chicago, was named vice president for philanthropy at the Metropolitan Planning Council.
