Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and two other Democratic Congressional leaders failed to report their positions as officers in family charities as required by Congressional disclosure rules, reports USA Today.
Illinois Congressman Rahm Emanuel, the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House, and Sen. Evan Bayh, of Indiana, failed to note in tax documents that they have roles in leading family-run philanthropies.
At least 16 other lawmakers disclosed they had roles in their family foundations, the newspaper said.
Spokesmen for Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Bayh said the lack of disclosure was an oversight. Mr. Emanuel’s spokesman said he did not believe the law required disclosure of the family foundation post but that if the Congressman is told to amend his disclosure forms, he will.
