Top Silicon Valley Charity Leaders’ Pay Averages $500,000-Plus

The 25 highest-paid non-hospital nonprofit leaders in Silicon Valley earned $520,000 on average in 2012, according to Silicon Valley Business Journal.
Curtis R. Carlson, president and chief executive officers of research institute SRI International, topped the list with pay of $1.46-million in 2012, the most recent year for which information was available. The region’s top 100 nonprofit executives averaged $307,818 in compensation.
Nonprofit hospitals were not included in the list. Educational organizations and institutions employed 33 of the 100 best-compensated executives. Twenty-two worked for human services nonprofits and 17 for health-care entities.
