Troubled Economy Forces Layoffs at Cancer Institute
March 24, 2011
Officials at the Nevada Cancer Institute, in Las Vegas, have announced staff layoffs for the second time in almost three years, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Citing the troubled economy’s effect on fund raising, officials said 30 of the nonprofit’s 350 employees will be let go. In 2008 the medical-and-research center laid off 50 staff members.
