Trustees Urged to Lobby Against Government Spending Cuts
October 3, 2011
Nonprofit trustees should lobby against government budget cuts to charities—in part because they will face increased pressure to donate or raise money to fill in the gaps, Tim Delaney, chief executive of the National Council of Nonprofits, told a gathering of nonprofit and board leaders from across the country.
Mr. Delaney said boards should create public-policy committees to focus on government spending that affects their organizations as well as bigger-picture issues like poverty, reports Holly Hall, The Chronicle’s features editor.
