July 27, 2006
Larry King, the talk-show host on CNN, and his family are helping approximately 300 uninsured patients at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center gain access to cardiac care that they could not otherwise afford, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Through the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, in Rockville, Md., Mr. King and his family have agreed to pay for about 75 to 100 patients annually over the next three years to receive free medical devices, and for operations for patients that need surgery.
Hospital officials estimate that cardiac care costs about $7,500 per patient.
