U. of Kentucky Alumnus Donates $20-Million for Student Center

The University of Kentucky announced a $20-million gift Thursday from businessman Carol Martin “Bill” Gatton to help finance a renovation and and expansion of the campus’s student center, The Courier-Journal of Louisville writes.
Mr. Gatton, a university alumnus and trustee active in banking, real estate, and auto sales, has given more than $45-million in total to his alma mater, making him the institution’s biggest individual donor. The university’s College of Business and Economics is named for him. Groundbreaking on the $175-million, 330,000-square-foot complex for dining, shopping, and other student amenities is slated for June.
