U. of Tennessee Names Business School for $50-Million Donor

One of Tennessee’s most prominent families has donated $50-million to establish an endowment for the University of Tennessee’s College of Business Administration, the Knoxville News Sentinel and the Associated Press write. The school will be renamed the James A. Haslam II College of Business in recognition of the gift.
Mr. Haslam, a university alumnus and former football player, founded truck-stop chain Pilot Flying J. He is the father of Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Jimmy Haslam, owner of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. The Knoxville campus’s business-school building is also named for the family, which made a prior gift to overhaul the historic structure.
