U. of Texas at Austin Hits $3-Billion Campaign Goal

September 3, 2014

The University of Texas at Austin raised $856-million during its 2013-14 fundraising year, believed to be a record for Texas institutions, university officials said in a statement.

The historic fundraising year closes out an eight-year capital campaign that brought in $3.1-billion in donations and pledges.

The fundraising effort ran parallel with efforts to strengthen the university’s undergraduate curriculum, improve graduation rates, and aid first-generation college students.

The campaign attracted 403 gifts of at least $1-million. More than 270,000 donors participated, with 90 percent of contributions going to academics and 10 percent going to athletics.
