‘U.S. News’: Resources for Young Donors

A growing number of efforts are under way to help young wealthy people figure out how to give money away, reports U.S. News & World Report (February 26).
One reason for the growth: Some experts predict that the baby-boom generation will pass along big sums to their children. The richest 10 percent of the boomers hold an average of $3.2-million in assets, and plan to bequeath much of that money to their children, the magazine says.
Among the efforts are 21/64, a program the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies created to focus on ways to bring together people in their 20s who have just inherited their money, and affluent people in their 60s who are starting to think about their legacies. It provides consulting services and educational tools to wealthy families and foundations and runs a network for young wealthy people.
