University Accepts a Controversial Grant
June 23, 2006
A $1.7-million grant that Florida State University, in Tallahassee, returned to its donors has been awarded to the University of South Florida, in Tampa, to endow a professorship in chiropractic research, reports the St. Petersburg Times.
The Lincoln College Education and Research Fund and the Florida Chiropractic Foundation had originally awarded the grant for a professorship to Florida State in 1996, but a campus debate over the legitimacy of chiropractic led the university’s board to reject the money and abandon the project.
