UNIVERSITY LAWSUIT

January 12, 2006 | Read Time: 1 minute

Florida State University says it will return $11-million donated by Robert A. Holton, a professor at the university, for the construction of a new chemistry building, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education. The legal dispute arose in November after Mr. Holton demanded in a lawsuit that the university either begin work on the building as previously agreed to or return his donation. Mr. Holton made the donation through the MDS Research Foundation, which says it will decline to take the money back because it prefers to work out an agreement to construct the building.
