Update: Federal Fund-Raising Drive

March 13, 2007 | Read Time: 1 minute

The head of the government agency that oversees the Combined Federal Campaign responded yesterday to criticisms of how the federal fund-raising drive has been run, The Washington Post reports.

Linda M. Springer, director of the Office of Personnel Management, said in a statement that the workplace campaign “remains a program that federal employees can support with confidence.”

Late last week, Sen. Charles E. Grassley sent a letter to President Bush raising questions about how the Combined Federal Campaign is managed, The Chronicle of Philanthropy reported. He asked the president to consider moving the charity drive under the purview of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
