UPDATE: SCHWAB FOUNDATION

March 13, 2006

Steve Carter, attorney general of Indiana, has requested that a new board of directors take control of the Olin B. and Desta Schwab Foundation, reports the Associated Press. The attorney general’s office sued the foundation in December for using foundation assets to buy a Las Vegas mansion for the board president, Richard H. Blaich, who died of accidental carbon-monoxide poisoning last month. Mr. Blaich had defended the purchase, saying it was an investment for the foundation.
