Washington Museum Gets Big Gifts
May 24, 2006
The Newseum, a museum dedicated to journalism, has received $52-million in donations from eight major media companies and families, reports The Washington Post.
The New York Times Company and the Ochs Sulzberger family, and the News Corporation, owned by Rupert Murdoch, made the biggest gifts—$10-million each. The donations will go toward a $100-million capital campaign to support the museum’s new $435-million facility in downtown Washington.
