Web Site Supports Civil-Rights Group

After a group created a Web site last month calling for leadership changes at the American Civil Liberties Union, another group has started a Web site to voice support for the ACLU’s officials, reports The New York Times.
The new Web site, Voicesfortheaclu.com, is supported by the executive directors of 18 state affiliates of the ACLU, as well as other organizations, including Human Rights Watch and the Feminist Majority Foundation.
It is designed to counter Savetheaclu.com, started by other former officials of the civil-liberties group, which says that it supports the ACLU’s mission and efforts but that it considers recent actions by its executive director and board to be hypocritical and in opposition to the group’s mission to protect free speech.
