Weddings and Charity Are a Match Made in Heaven

More and more couples are encouraging wedding guests to donate to charity in lieu of gifts as brides and grooms register with nonprofit groups, reports the Associated Press.
“It felt like people gave more than they would have had it been a regular wedding gift,” says one newlywed, Georgia Markarian, whose wedding raised $5,000 for the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, and United Way.
