A recent report on the differences between what news topics men and women pay attention to has implications for fund raisers.
According to the Pew Research Center, in Washington, men tend to follow sports, financial, and science news, while women are more likely to follow stories on local events, the arts, and the weather.
Tom Belford and Roger Craver, two fund-raising experts, write on their blog, The Agitator, that the Pew findings may affect charities.
The report shows “important habits for nonprofit communicators to factor in, and direct response fund raisers as well, given that successful D.R. [direct response] fund raising often follows the headlines. Her headline isn’t his, and vice versa,” they write.
What do you think? What does the Pew report mean for fund raisers?
