The Green Bay Symphony Orchestra, which is set to shut down at the end of the current season due to shrinking donations and ticket sales, could get a new lease on life through a proposed partnership with the Madison-based Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, reports the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
Mark Cantrell, executive director of the chamber ensemble, said the plan, still in the early talking stage, would bring both groups under one organizational and administrative umbrella. A merger could help bring new business and philanthropic models to the Green Bay orchestra and bolster the chamber group’s efforts to become a statewide resource, he said.
