Barron Segar, executive vice president and chief development officer at Unicef USA, has been tapped as president and CEO.

Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action

Lynnette Cook, director of bliss at Rootstrike Labs, has been named executive director.

She succeeds Shariq Siddiqui, who departed over the summer.

Brinson Foundation

Christy Uchida, a senior program officer at the $108 million foundation, has been promoted to president. She succeeds James Parsons, who is stepping down after 15 years.

Janice Lombardo has also joined the foundation as program officer. Most recently she worked at Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement where she was director of member engagement.

Tipping Point Community

Sam Cobbs, president of this foundation that made $54 million in grants last year to programs that combat poverty in San Francisco’s Bay Area, will become its next CEO on January 6.

He follows Daniel Lurie, the organization’s founder, who is stepping down after 15 years. Lurie will now serve as chair of its board.

More New CEOs

Jennifer Bonnett, associate director at the Nonprofit Lifecycles Institute, has been promoted to president and CEO. She succeeds its founder, Susan Kenny Stevens, who will remain with the organization as a senior adviser.

Monique Cox has joined the Urban Alliance as executive director for the Baltimore region. Most recently she was program director at Young Audiences Arts for Learning.

Rebecca Dixon, chief of programs at the National Employment Law Project, will be promoted to executive director on January 2. She replaces Christine Owens, who is departing after 12 years.

Kristin Kirkpatrick will be the first executive director of the Center for an Enhanced Workforce in Agriculture, a new program at Together We Grow. She most recently led the Colorado regional office of Big Green, a national food-literacy education nonprofit.

Steven Knapp, professor of English and president emeritus of George Washington University, has been named president of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. He will begin his new role on February 1.

Tiffany Scott Knox is the new director of the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood Initiative. Most recently she was a program officer and community-engagement program manager at the United Way of the Twin Cities.

Other Notable Appointments

Heather Colvin is now the manager of brand partnerships at The Moth, a nonprofit organization that airs storytelling programs on public radio and online. Most recently she was a senior producer at the D10, an athletic production company.

Danielle Maged, executive vice president of global solutions at Fox Networks Group, has been appointed chief growth officer at Global Citizen, a new role at the international-poverty organization.

Whitney Metz, senior director of development for student affairs at the University of South Carolina, has been appointed assistant vice president for institutional advancement at Newberry College.

Patrick Murphy has joined Arnold Ventures as vice president of public finance. Most recently he was the policy director of fiscal and governance reform and a senior fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California.

Amy Templeman will rejoin the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities as director of impact, safety, and resilience at the Within Our Reach program. She previously served as director of the program from 2016 to 2017, and she worked as a cultural-affairs specialist at the U.S. Department of State for the past year. Templeman succeeds Theresa Covington, who is retiring.

Departure

Toby Schine, executive director of the Boston Children’s Theatre since 2012, has stepped down following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against its ousted executive artistic director, Burgess Clark, according to reports.

Legacy

Marion Kaplan, one of the founders of the New York Women’s Foundation, died on November 6 at age 80. A lawyer who worked with labor unions, she was one of a team of women philanthropists who established the foundation in 1988. She later served as chair of its board.
