Give the Bonuses to the Fund Raisers

To the Editor:
I find it very interesting that the individuals in your October 4 article, “The Right Price: Charities Turn to Controversial Pay Deals to Lure Top Talent,” are, for the most part, chief executives of the entities in question. Where are the bonuses for those on the front line who are actually raising the funds?
Sure, managers have control over setting goals, managing their departments, hiring the right individuals, but in all the not-for-profits I’m familiar with it’s those who actually do the fund raising who drive the process. Managers organize, and fund raisers raise funds. If you’re going to give out incentives, give them to the proper individuals.
