LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
To the Editor:
The article regarding the nude charity calendar done by the Topeka Civic Theatre (“Charity Calendars Show More Than Date,” April 6) is appalling. Was the final profit of less than $9,000 really profitable?
In a day and age where sex is everywhere a person looks and children are being exposed to nudity on a daily basis, I think their idea was unacceptable. We have to have locks on our TV’s so children can’t access the gross shows that are available 24 hours a day. Isn’t that enough? We have overpowering numbers of children and teens being raped and sexually abused every year.
I think it was unacceptable that you would even print such an article in your periodical.
What is happening when we can’t celebrate or acknowledge Christmas in the United States and anything to do with Christianity is being taken away from us, yet your writers can acknowledge this kind of action as an “idea for fund raising”?
I would not give to anything like this and I don’t appreciate it being printed in a periodical that I’m supposed to read for my job. Usually, your articles are enlightening and energizing.
