Opinion: Conservatives Give More Than Liberals

January 22, 2009 | Read Time: 1 minute

President Barack Obama’s recent call to “a new era of responsibility” is one that conservatives have already responded to, says Arthur C. Brooks in an opinion article in The Wall Street Journal.

Mr. Brooks cites studies over the past several years as evidence that those on the political right are more charitable than those on the left, a pattern that he says increased in 2008. Furthermore, he says that conservatives also decrease their giving less than liberals do during times of economic distress.
